to pitch a tent & camp, if you'd like to stay on-site,
at no cost. Nothing fancy at all, but as close as
can get had...

Highland State Recreation
area has a cabin available for rental, which sleeps 6
and has a kitchen and bathroom. If someone wanted
to rent this and wanted me to let other participants
know so they could split the costs, I'd be happy to.

This is a hotel about 10 minutes or so east of the event
located on M-59, the closest hotel to
the area. It's adjacent to a nice supermarket and a
natural food store.

Mapquest says this motel is 12.77 miles away, which isn't
a whole lot farther, but it is considerably less expensive
than the Best Western in lake Orion. You can check rates
and availability via the website listed above.
CAMPING
Metamora-Hadley State Rec. Area

Metamora-Hadley State Recreation Area is the closest
location that offers campground facilities that are open
this time of year. Tent/trailer/RV camping is $19 per
night, and they have one “mini cabin” that sleeps four and
offers electricity & lights for $45 per night.
Metamora-Hadley State Rec. Area is about 20 miles north of
Upland Hills Ecological Awareness Center, so allow at
least a half hour for travel. Please call to make
reservations for cabins or camping.
